What Does
Das-e-Basi Means

Das-e-Basi is a doubled barreled name consisting of Das and Basi. Das stands for the barren land and Basi means orchard. So it means Orchard in a barren land.
Historically the locality in Nomal valley where resort is located is known as Das (Barren Land). It was all barren until 1960’s when families from Hunza re-located themselves to Nomal Das and started cultivating the lands. This locality is no more barren and it’s the most fertile land in the area, But, due to its historic importance the locality is still called as Nomal Das.

Evolution of
Das-e-Basi
Never intended to be established as a resort, this was a cherry orchard established back in 2013 by the owner himself. However, in 2021 the idea of establishing a resort was conceived by the owner and within two years the orchard farm was converted into a resort.
This barren patch of land was washed away by flash floods back in 1976. There after the area was not developed. However, in 2013 the owner decided to re-develop the area and turned into an orchard initially and then into one of the most famous resorts of Gilgit Baltistan.
